Circle Casting Ritual
Traditional method for casting a sacred circle to create protected space for magical work.

🌿 Ingredients
• Athame, wand, or use your hand
• Optional: salt for marking the circle
• Optional: candles at the four directions
• Optional: incense for Air
• Optional: stones or crystals for Earth
📜 Instructions
1. Stand in the center of your space facing East
2. Ground and center yourself with deep breaths
3. Hold your athame, wand, or use your dominant hand
4. Walk clockwise (deosil) around the perimeter three times
5. On the first pass, visualize a line of white light forming the boundary
6. On the second pass, say: "I cast this circle round about, negativity stay out"
7. On the third pass, visualize the walls rising up and arching overhead to form a sphere
8. At each cardinal direction (East, South, West, North), pause and call:
- East: "I call upon the powers of Air and the East, bring clarity and wisdom"
- South: "I call upon the powers of Fire and the South, bring passion and transformation"
- West: "I call upon the powers of Water and the West, bring intuition and healing"
- North: "I call upon the powers of Earth and the North, bring stability and grounding"
9. Return to center and say: "The circle is cast, we are between the worlds"
10. Perform your magical work within the protected space
11. When finished, walk counter-clockwise (widdershins) to open the circle
12. Thank each direction and say: "The circle is open but never broken, merry meet and merry part"
💡 Tips & Variations
• Practice the visualization before adding the verbal components
• Your intention and will are more important than perfect words
• The circle should feel like a shift in energy when you enter
• Always open your circle when done to release the energy
• Some traditions cast only once, others recast for each working
