🌿 Ingredients
• Bowl of salt or earth (North/Earth)
• Feather or incense (East/Air)
• Red candle (South/Fire)
• Bowl of water (West/Water)
• White candle (center/Spirit)
• Compass for directions
• Altar cloth or circle marking
• Protection oil
• Offerings for each element
• Athame, wand, or hand for directing energy
• Small protection amulet to consecrate
📜 Instructions
1. Cast your circle or create sacred space outdoors if possible.
2. Using your compass, mark the four cardinal directions clearly.
3. Place element representatives at their corresponding directions.
4. Place the white candle in the center representing Spirit/Source.
5. Stand in the center facing North (Earth).
6. Hold your hands over the salt/earth and say: "Powers of the North, element of Earth, stone and soil, foundation strong. Grant me your protection, solid as mountain, stable as ground. Guard me from all harm."
7. Sprinkle salt in a line along the northern edge of your circle.
8. Turn to face East (Air).
9. Hold the feather or waft incense and say: "Powers of the East, element of Air, wind and breath, clarity bright. Grant me your protection, swift as gale, clear as sky. Guard me from all harm."
10. Use the feather to "sweep" the eastern edge of your circle.
11. Turn to face South (Fire).
12. Hold your hands near the red candle flame and say: "Powers of the South, element of Fire, flame and passion, transformation fierce. Grant me your protection, burning as sun, purifying as flame. Guard me from all harm."
13. Light the candle and trace the southern edge with its light (carefully).
14. Turn to face West (Water).
15. Dip your fingers in water and say: "Powers of the West, element of Water, tide and flow, emotion deep. Grant me your protection, cleansing as rain, powerful as ocean. Guard me from all harm."
16. Sprinkle water along the western edge of your circle.
17. Return to center and light the white candle.
18. Say: "Great Spirit, Source of All, unite the elements in perfect protection. By Earth I am stable, by Air I am aware, by Fire I am defended, by Water I am cleansed. I am protected in all directions, at all times, in all ways."
19. Hold your protection amulet high and turn slowly in place, charging it with each element.
20. Visualize a sphere of protection around you containing all four elements in balance.
21. Thank each element, starting in the North and moving counter-clockwise.
22. Close your circle in your tradition's manner.
23. Wear or carry the charged amulet for ongoing elemental protection.
