Purpose

Used to grind, blend, and consecrate herbs, resins, salts, and other ingredients for spells, incense, and potions.

Description

Bowl (mortar) and grinding tool (pestle) traditionally made of stone (marble, granite), wood, ceramic, or metal. Size varies from small (2-inch) to large (8+ inch diameter). Stone is preferred for durability.

Usage Notes

Grind herbs clockwise for attracting, counterclockwise for banishing. Infuse intention as you work. Season stone mortars before use. Have separate sets for edible vs. non-edible ingredients. Clean thoroughly between uses. The act of grinding is a meditation that empowers ingredients.
